Be Still In The Storm

Often times, when things become difficult in my life and circumstances have a tendency to bring me down,  I often look for things to add to my life.  It makes sense at the time to add something to keep me distracted, hold my focus, or keep me busy.  

It was on one such occasion that I was looking for a solution to some trials.  I was doing all I knew how, looking in self help books, getting more exercise, trying to get outside, and all the other "things" recommend to me. 

I was when I was finally feeling my lowest, like nothing was actually helping, when the Lord told me what I needed most.  

Be still.

He needed me to let go and let God.  In my stillness I was able to see him where I had not, and feel him where I had not noticed his presence.  By opening my time to him and allowing myself to be still, I was able to connect with the one who has power over any storm.  

Just like the many miracles we read about that took place on Galilee, we learn that not only can Jesus calm the storm, but he can also calm the sailor when the storm is necessary to get the sailor to safety.  

Then, even still in the midst of the storm, we can see where the light still shines in the darkness and where stillness and peace still exist while all around us still seems to be ragging.  Soon the storm will brake and the sun will shine again but we will know the true source of peace. We will know that the one who calmed the storms long ago is still the one who can calm the storms in our heart.
